First of all, Brilliant Classics is prepping new versions of its complete Haydn, Mozart, Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi giant box sets.

a living composer enters the Brazil series

Silvestrov - Bagatelles Op. 1
Liszt - Dante Sonata
Debussy - Et la lune descend..., L'isle joyeuse
Liebermann - Gargoyles
Silvestrov - Postludium Op. 5

SOME APRIL STUFF

Not sure why Slovenia is on the cover of a Mendelssohn album from Latvia on a Finnish label...

This is a bunch of shorts: Rachmaninov, Bortkiewicz, Ravel, Rosenthal, Bonis, Bowen, Alkan, Chaminade, d'Indy, Respighi, etc.

and finally one disc coming in MAY:

I'll probably end up getting the Shostakovich Nelsons box set (I only own two releases from it and never got around to collecting the rest of them). The Koechlin is welcome addition, too, but @Symphonic Addict brought this recording to my attention on another forum, so you'll have to excuse my lack of exclamation points.

This developing Faure orchestral series is certainly attracting my interest. I'll have to have a listen to the couple of volumes already out.
Freedom of speech means you get to speak in response to what I said.

Jean-Luc Tingaud has certainly championed a lot of French repertoire on Naxos.

For those interested, here's a pack shot of the Nelsons' Shostakovich box set:

I wasn't aware that Nelsons recorded the concerti, so that's a nice bonus and it looks like he recorded Lady Macbeth as well. Nice! I don't think the concerti or Lady Macbeth recordings were released on CD (download only?).

Speaking of DG, one series I'm waiting for is Fabio Luisi's Schoenberg with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. I hope there's a box set that gets issued.

Now I have to try to remember if Koechlin symphony no 1 is based on string quartet no 2, or vice versa. I like Koechlin string quartets. But don't generally like Koechlin orchestral music.
Formerly Scarpia (Scarps), Baron Scarpia, Ghost of Baron Scarpia, Varner, Ratliff, Parsifal, perhaps others.

There was the passacaglia from Lady M on the Symphony 10 disc, but I don't recall a release of the complete opera either. If that box is as aggressively priced as the Bruckner one (which is only like $30), it could be irresistible.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the asking price certainly isn't worth jumping up and down over:

I can answer my own question, according to an article I found this symphony is an orchestral of string quartet no 2, so I will be listening with fingers crossed that there no Ondes Martinot.

Here are some upcoming releases that may or may not have been mentioned yet:

And finally, for those of you that missed the Boulez Complete Works box set on DG the first time around:

I'll be hearing Seong-jin Cho live next month doing the complete solo music of Ravel. If it's anything like his Chopin scherzos, it will be a memorable recital.

And speaking of Ravel, has anyone acquired the 6-CD Complete Music with Piano with Francois-Xavier Poizat? And if so, on your copy is track 6 of CD 1 (as listed in the booklet) missing from the disc?

Sounds amazing. I'd to be in attendance to those concerts.

Feb. 5 at NY's Carnegie Hall. I'll report back.

But so far the Poizat box is proving miraculous. I've only listened to disc 1 with the Concertos and the solo La Valse, and this pianist is spectacular.

That Poizat box set does look rather enticing, but I'm trying hard to not buy any more Ravel. I own way too much!

Another box set coming out in March:

Daverz

Katia Labeque was born in 1950, so she would be about 75 years old now.  But this is a reissue of a 2006 recital, so she would have been a youngster in her mid 50s there.

Shostakovich Nelsons DG Box Set

You can pre-order the Hi-Res downloads from Qobuz for around £20.00 which seems like a bargain to me!

André

The Koechlin and Isang Yun discs are of interest (to me, of course !).
