Johann Georg Pisendel (1687-1755) was one of the most important German violinists of the Baroque period. Although he himself composed relatively little compared to other Baroque composers, he nevertheless contributed a great deal to the dissemination of violin concertos of his time. Of his own compositions, 12 magnificent violin concertos have survived alongside sonatas for the violin. Unfortunately, there are not yet many recordings of these 12 concertos. Nevertheless, it can be asked which of Johann Georg Pisendel's violin concertos are particularly worth hearing and stand out among the many baroque violin concertos of his time. I myself greatly appreciate the Violin Concerto in D major (Jung I.7) for its courtly splendour of sound, but also because of its novel technical challenge for the time. Pisendel was very scrupulous about really presenting violinistic ability in the Enlightenment sense.
