Wasn't on the same deep discount sale! (Nor were a few other enticing BIS boxes.)

I think his Mozart isn't on the same level as the Haydn and Beethoven boxes. But you still lack the Beethoven variations--that's a separate set.

If JPC expands the BIS box saleselection, I'd go for that Beethoven variation set, the Stenhammar Quartets, the Danzi wind quintets and maybe the London Baroque trio sonatas.

Looking to purchase a cheap-ass WTC, and I came across this review:

"Temperamentally the programme rarely takes risks: well-tempered indeed."

Settled on the Ewa Poblocka set (12 bucks for the complete set). Also, got these two discs cheap:

There's just too much good stuff at near rock-bottom prices:

But, I'm stopping now as my music collection is starting to look like my GoG/Steam libraries! :o

Quote from: JBS on February 14, 2025, 04:21:22 PMI think his Mozart isn't on the same level as the Haydn and Beethoven boxes.

I got tired of his somewhat heavy-handed and unrefined Mozart playing and culled the set, while I on the contrary have kept his more interesting Beethoven sonata set. He is kind of muscular player, with a style suited for Beethoven but not for Mozart.

I came to the same conclusion sampling the concertos set streaming. I also parted with his Mozart solo piano sets for the same reason, after initial enthusiasm. But I kept the Haydn set, and I should give his Beethoven sonatas set a good trial.

Finally!

What did you pay for this set? I saw it yesterday in the classical music shop for 95 euros, a bit too much for my purse.

I am happy I finally found the Haydn Dorati set for an acceptable price (40 euros). Also looking forward to my first Shostakovich string quartet set.

From JPC

The only other item from the BIS box sale I don't have already is the Wigglesworth DSCH set--but I have a few sets of the symphonies already, so I went for music I don't have.  Total was under €60 including shipping to the US.

That Albéniz set is fantastic. Miguel Baselga is such a persuasive interpreter of this repertoire. I enjoy his Falla disc as well.

Um, saying this in relation to yourself using your old name is a bit strange.
