Watching the current season of L&O:SVU (the show is a lot softer than I remember)

I am a Washington fan and I am stunned.  Detroit has such a great team.
Like Joe Namath said many years ago, "On any given Sunday."

I am in utter shock. A mightily impressive win for Washington.

I started a new series on Max last night, The Pitt. It's rather similar to ER, as it is a medical drama and stars Noah Wyle, but it seems more realistic. Two interesting aspects: 1) The 15 episodes cover a single 15-hour shift in a Pittsburgh E.R., and 2) Michael Crichton's family is suing the creators because it is so similar to ER, which was created by Chrichton.

I also started season 2 of Severance on Apple TV+. I have to say I was not thrilled with the new episode, but since the first season was amazing, I'm hopeful that season 2 will improve.

From what I recall hearing/seeing on t.v., or reading Mariska Hargitay became involved in fighting for helping people of various abuses.

As an actress, activist, and advocate, Mariska Hargitay has dedicated her time, talent and resources to be an inspiration and force for change. Putting her passion for healing, education and community involvement to use, Ms. Hargitay works to help not only survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse but other causes she is passionate about.  From this website:  https://www.joyfulheartfoundation.org/about-us/founders-corner/more-about-mariska

"Through her role as Detective Olivia Benson on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , Ms. Hargitay was awakened to the weight that survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse carry—the weight of shame, pain, fear, darkness, judgment and isolation—and inspired by their courage."

More power to her and people that are trying to help and make a difference.

I'm glad to hear that she is making a difference now, but I wonder if that will ever outweigh the harm she has done in her long career of promoting copaganda.

I have no idea what that is.

Ah, copaganda is making propaganda for the cops (the police).

The Agency on Paramount +. It's a very slow but well done CIA espionage series. Stars Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere, and Jeffrey Wright.

A Goonies-inspired adventure set in space, although this felt aimed at a younger audience than that 80s movie.

I finished my re-re of The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Next up is Elizabeth R.

A minor historical inaccuracy in Six Wives concerns Edward, heir to Henry. He was not a sickly child. He contracted his fatal illness, probably tuberculosis, only in the last months of his life.

I've been watching Twin Peaks: The Return and I've passed the point where I quit before. It is overly indulgent with frequently baroque design and special effects. The thing I really don't like about it is the endless stream of famous actor cameos that add nothing to the story—just distracting. The good thing is despite the Lynchian strangeness there are answers provided to many questions raised in S2 of the original series, and a great attempt is made at world-building so that everything about the Black Lodge and the plot feels coherent and interconnected. I'm halfway through the show now.

I still feel that the extreme restraint applied to Lynch in the original show (especially S1) allowed him some creative freedom and some budget, but not Mulholland Drive escapades, which truly helped make the show special. I prefer it when the focus of the show was on the characters instead of the Black Lodge mythos.

It will be good to finally see the end of the story. And I do appreciate having so many of the original cast return. I would like to see more actors from the past given roles in TV and film. I don't want Indiana Jones-like action stars, but they can act in non-physically active roles at almost any age and I don't think the audience needs to only see 20-30-somethings acting.

Well, the fourth and final season of The Fugitive is in color. (Looks a little strange, really.)

I finished Twin Peaks: The Return. If you were all in on S2 of the original show and Fire Walk With Me, this sequel show is worth watching. It brings closure and answers. It is not nostalgia-bait. It might veer at times into Lynchian experimentalism more like his movies, but it never loses sight of the overall narrative. That being said, it is tonally very different from the original show which plays more like a soap or at least uses the format.

What We Do in the Shadows: Season 6 (2024)

The final season, which was probably well overdue. I still enjoyed tuning in for its odd sense of humor, especially Matt Berry's overcooked vocal affectations.
