The only Pink Floyd album I liked; and have learned that it is the one most Floyd fans don't.  Nice to another outlier post it.

It's the band members who don't like it. We early Floydians loved the live part as well as the Grantchester birds.

Inside information? Interesting. I find it mixed.

     I found this.

Ummagumma - Wikipedia
Recalling the album in later years, Waters said: "Ummagumma – what a disaster!", while in 1995, Gilmour described the album as "horrible". In a 1984 interview, Mason said: "I thought it was a very good and interesting little exercise, the whole business of everyone doing a bit.

That was kind of in the air, wasn't it? Fragile by Yes and ELP's Works, Volume 1 (I still remember a snarky review,  "threateningly titled Volume One." All contain both communal and individual tracks.

Somehow had never heard these remarkable 1929 recordings before reading about them last night.

They said these were a huge influence on the young Django Reinhardt, and you can hear that immediately.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about this album is the cover of another LP on its sleeve — namely, the soundtrack to the late 50s musical Gigi, which won a slew of Oscars.

Autechre - NTS Session 3

Quote from: AnotherSpin on November 17, 2024, 11:43:35 PMPure beauty

I have explored the solo releases of ex-TD members quite little including Klaus Schulze. One reason is these releases are often difficult to get on CD without paying a lot. It can be "dangerous" to find out I want these in my collection. Another reason is the amount of music TD has released is vast and it has kept me "busy" since 2008.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

The early albums from Klaus Shulze really impress me with just how persistent he was in wringing long pieces out of very basic equipment 8) .

Most often, I put on electronic (or ambient) music when I'm busy with something else, not planning to listen attentively, and just want the background to be filled with something. In other words, I'm not expecting anything special. Just let it play. I don't remember why I started listening to Klaus Schulze this time, but what truly captivated me was the stunning beauty that builds up in the music by the 10th or 15th minute of the album. Something special, painfully beautiful, that sometimes happens in electronic albums.

Whole album, fun - beginning to end. Not for everyone, but for those who know, they know. 8)
