Quote from: Brian on January 15, 2025, 05:35:46 AMLast night I had a dream that I was in a room with a representative from Amazon and the guy selling the new Sony Michael Tilson Thomas box set with 70ish CDs. I said, "I want it, but not for the $299 you are charging, I want the price to go down." The Amazon rep said, "I can make the price go down by beating this guy up." And then he just started attacking the seller! With every punch and kick the price dropped more, until it was down to $85 and I pulled out my computer and clicked "buy."  ;D

What does the fact that you dream about amazon reps and classical box sets say about your priorities in life?  ;D

I appreciate discovering that set is back in print, but that should have been in the new releases thread. Posting a video with zero words forcing you to watch it is the exact opposite of what the thread is about.

From the OP (some jerk named DavidW):
Quote from: DavidW on July 14, 2009, 08:39:17 AMThere seem to be two different approaches to the listening thread.  One is to do thread duty and let people know what you are currently listening to.  The other is to discuss what you're listening to.  Due to the high traffic on the thread latter is buried or ends up with replies separated by pages and pages.  I thought we might try something different.  If you want to post your thoughts and discuss them with others over current listening, reading or whatever is on your mind, post it here and it won't vanish.  You can then more easily talk about things with other posters.  I'll kick it off.

Sorry, Davey, my bad. In my defense (not that it's much) the video runs less than two minutes.

Is it just me, or does Naive tend to simply put a random attractive model on their album covers?

When I first discovered the label, it was through Handel operas, and so I thought maybe the person on the cover might be one of the singers. Then later it occurred to me I might be wrong.  :-[

It's largely random (some sacred works seem to have vaguely religious symbolism on the covers) but apparently all done by the same designer/agency, mostly for the Vivaldi. But some other of their series have classical pictures:

Tout le malheur des hommes vient d'une seule chose, qui est de ne savoir pas demeurer en repos, dans une chambre.
