But I would never buy an album featuring Jimmy Fallon's voice. The only thing I have ever liked from him is the Fever Pitch movie. His run on the Tonight Show has soured me on the guy.  :P

I never thought Jimmy Fallon had any talent. The way he would break character when he was on SNL was pathetic, but not as pathetic as his pandering to celebrities and how he kisses their ass on The Tonight Show. The fact that Lang Lang would enlist him actually tells me more about Lang Lang than Jimmy Fallon. I hope this album bombs and it probably will given how trite Lang Lang has become and really just a joke of a pianist. He'd fit right in with the Carnival Cruise Line where he would be showcased along with all of the other musical rejects of years past.

Geez, maybe you can all hear the album before reviewing it.

Only because if he wasn't a celebrity, he would never be a target. Apparently celebrities from the TV need attacking.

If you're not interested in listening to the album, fine, but 2 of you are going overboard for whatever reason. I dunno enough about the guy to understand what would generate such reactions. He's just one of a clump of American talk show hosts.

We all know where this completely irrelevant discussion is heading, so please cut it out now. Thanks!

Now you're going to have to tell me why you think it's irrelevant. This thread basically consists of people posting news of releases and commenting on what they are or aren't looking forward to.

I repeat, Madiel: we all know how this type of exchanges between you and Todd end. Things heat up, posts are reported, and we moderators are asked then to intervene and clear the mess.

The need or not of Mr. Fallon to be defended from online "attacks" is completely irrelevant to this new release of Saint-Saëns.

Understood?

As far as I was concerned I had nothing further to say, so well done on prolonging the conversation. Because I wasn't defending Mr. Fallon, and I certainly wasn't defending him from Todd. The name of the particular person that several people chose to comment on wasn't relevant to me, and it was not Todd that caused me to comment in the first place.

Whatever argument you're trying to make, relevancy is NOT determined by who is posting. If you want to say, don't get in an argument with Todd, then say that. And I'll say, fine, I don't much care right now what Todd thinks, which is the honest truth.

The more I think about it, the funniest bit of this supposed comedy thread is the part where @ritter claims that talking about one of the performers on a Saint-Saens recording is irrelevant to the Saint-Saens recording.

Clearly, casting celebrities in musical projects WORKS, because it seems people lose all ability to think of them as just another performer. I mean, the post that has been chosen to start this thread is primarily about Lang Lang, but we now have even the moderators only able to focus on the other guy.

Presumably when a star is cast to narrate The Carnival of the Animals, or Peter and the Wolf, or the Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, or The Soldier's Tale, there's a whole host of people who will pay attention (negatively but also positively) just because of who the celebrity is.
