In 2025 I'm anticipating some major changes and want to do some preparation and downsizing of my collection.

Going to sell a whole lot of stuff, probably on Discogs or eBay, starting in January, but since GMG is "my people," I wanted to offer them all here first. There is a small "GMG discount" compared to the going rates on other sites. First come first served via DM. (If you're a guest, feel free to email me brianrein AT gmail.)

Shipping: I'm an amateur here so I'm not sure what the shipping charges will be. I'll start shipping after Christmas to avoid post office lines. I'll let you know what shipping costs. I am based in Texas. Some of these are 40+ CDs and heavy.

I have PayPal and Zelle.

So what's on sale, then?

Yes, he jumped to RCA in the 70s.  Then later on he made a few recordings for Telarc, EMI and Delos.  While he did re-record a lot of stuff, there was some really interesting new repertoire on RCA:

Penderecki's Utrejna(!)
William Schumann Symphony No. 9
Shostakovich Symphonies 13, 14 & 15
Persichetti Symphony No. 9
a newer recording of Ilya Murometz with fewer cuts (totally nearly an hour)
Mendelssohn's Walpurgisnacht
Tchaikovsky Symphonies 1-3 and Manfred
a few new Ives and Bartok pieces
An uncut Rach Symphony 2

I am not well-acquainted with Ormandy's recordings but based on what Dave has said, it would appear that Ormandy's original recordings were generally better than their remakes. Do you have any personal favorite re-recordings where you think he outdid his earlier work?

Schubert: Sonata in C minor, D.958

There's a simplicity and depth to her playing that's transfixing. Everything is so transparent and perfectly natural. Am very taken indeed.
