Yes First Contact and Nemesis are my favorites.  Genesis is okay and Insurrection is the weakest of the bunch.  I don't think any of the TNG movies are on par with Star Trek 2 or 6.  Just personal taste.

I've got the DVD collection of the original series - so that is next up in the queue.

Star Trek Picard really nailed it.  The big reveal was well foreshadowed, thematically and tonally consistent with the premise of the show and felt well earned.  That sounds like basic competency in writing, but I had yet to see any new Trek pull it off.  While there is too much emphasis on nostalgia, I think S3 does a good job balancing the new shows reliance on action, set pieces and drama (melodrama too) with the older shows more cerebral approach.  The explanation for the key technological issue that the conspirators used could have been lifted from a TNG episode.

Now I'm looking forward to next week for the finale!

I just started a 7-day trial to Paramount+ so I can watch Picard

First episode, the very first scene, they're playing poker and listening to the song "Blue Skies" sung by Bing Crosby.  What is this 500 years in the future? Longer?  Either way, the Great American Songbook has stood the test of time.

Fair play, I thought it was a decent storyline. No spoilers, but I felt that the ending allowed the arc to have he potential to be completed well, rather than rushed. It has the potential to be the best of the Picard stories, I think. I even thought that the re-entry of one of the well-beloved characters was far better than in previous series. Not a car crash.

Yes, and the re-entry of that character thematically ties in with Picard's arc and the main plot as well.  Even Geordi's role connects so well.  It is all so well interconnected.

Now watch as we both get disappointed next week! ;D

Haha. Won't we have to wait for Picard S4?

Well I expect next week's finale to resolve everything but it would be fun to get a Best of Both Worlds style cliffhanger while we wait for months (I still remember that!)

Aaahhh... I think I may have seen the season finale on Netflix already. Unless I have misunderstood my numbers!

Who knows? 😀

Vox is the episode I saw this week.  The finale is called The Last Generation and is episode 10.  The episode I saw (Vox) ends with the crew taking the Enterprise D.

Ah, baloney. I think the last episode I saw was 8. I clearly don't pay attention.

I await a season resolution, in that case. My hope for a longer arc into S4 is obviously premature. Darn.

Yeah I did put it in white because I couldn't find spoiler tags, do they not exist on this forum software??

Just watched Vox.

No. NO. NOOOOOO. NOPE.

Having misunderstood that P:S4 has ten episodes and not 8, and having now watched episode 9, I am now less enamoured with the storyline. Taking two successful story arcs from earlier ST series and crunching them into one, with a single episode remaining to satisfactorily conclude the series, feels very much like Game of Thrones S8... an utter cow pat of a finale.

Argh.

No strong opinions, of course 😁

Heck, that's mild compared to certain posts in a now-closed thread... ::)

Loved Nemesis! One heck of a ride, and nice little incidental add-ons to the TNG characters and world. The best ending of any Star Trek movie I've seen, I think. When he played Hellboy for Guillermo del Toro, you can still tell that he's Ron Perlman. So consider me slightly disappointed (only slightly) that in the Reman make-up he might really have been almost any extra.

Did you also spot that Shinzon is a very young Tom Hardy?
