Is there a specific piece of equipment that you're trying to find UL?

It looks like it would be a fun show to attend.  :)

0832 as l start this. Been up and down overnight. Sleep an hour, do some quiet stuff, sleep three more, do some more... a normal night off, in other words.

So now I'm posting... and drinking. Cointreau, to be precise, because graveyard shift turns " Happy Hour " into Any Hour. I'm up when I'm up and l sleep when l sleep - there is no predictable pattern on my days off. So the drinking happens whenever, unless there are plans which require a change... not the case this weekend.

( I'll note here that l've no particular responsibilities regarding immediate family or relatives. I've no children that l know of, and my surviving nephews, nieces and siblings are distant and are successful, self-sufficient adults. I'm proud as Hell of them all, [ even though none of them are musical ] though the feeling isn't universally reciprocated. )

So I'll just keep on trucking, reading the news and sipping this wonderful nectar of the gods ( Cointreau is the one creation of France which l truly admire, made from fermented orange rinds. ), and maybe later update the Reaction Videos thread or, perhaps, the oboe thread.

Sounds heavenly.

Quote from: Spotted Horses on March 04, 2024, 08:34:36 AMSounds heavenly.

Just read that the US Supreme Court has ruled that Colorado cannot exclude Donald Trump from the ballot. Not so heavenly...

Well, perhaps that doesn't really matter. If the Court should rule for Trump on the immunity issue, it would seem to free up some radical courses of action for Joe Biden, who might then take direct action to prevent Trump from ever taking office should he win the general election.

And if the Court doesn't rule for Trump, he may yet wind up in prison.

Stay tuned, American politics have never been in such bizarre straits.

Sounds like a rather rough sleeping "schedule".  :( Working a graveyard shift must be quite hard on ones body--I would think so anyway.

Looks beautiful!  Did you grab an ice cream cone before wandering around?  It's wonderful to wander looking at boats, the harbor, etc.  BS, do you yourself ever go sailing?

Graveyard shift was a breeze for me back when l was young, during the '90's. I'd do my job and during downtime listen to Vaughn Williams, Bach Cello Suites, tangos, whatever, to stay awake.

Some years ago one of the there was a study done concerning the effects of working overnight upon people in various age groups. The results indicated that graveyard shifts were inadvisable for people over 55, and l passed that threshold long ago.

I am sitting in a cafe right now. I have my earphones on and I am listening to the songs I used to listen to five years ago and haven't heard in a long time,
If this were some other time, I might have cringed but right now, as I look out of the glass window, I just want to travel through time and go back to the past.

Since this has become the depression thread... I'm about ready to head out the door to the vet.  My pet dog is very sick.

Was there as an outing for a disabled family member, so it was a 'working' visit.

I guess those are fishing boats, the "Harbor Village" is a place to get inexpensive seafood. The thing to notice is how nicely green the coastal hills in the background are. In California that mean's it's winter and drought is not in effect.

Quote from: ultralinear on March 05, 2024, 07:36:53 AMVery sorry to hear that. :(  Hope s/he's OK.

Turns out he just needs anti-nausea medicine and a grilled chicken and rice diet.

I'm thinking about doing a thing.

I might buy AMD. I'm having trouble overcoming my aversion to owning NVDA because I slightly hate them for what they've done to the GPU market.

Hell, that's what I need... the former for the state of American politics, the latter for some tasty vittles.

( Hope it turn's things around for your dog.  8) )

How is your dog doing?  Better I hope.

Here:  purchased a bunch of "wild" mushrooms [cultivated really].  Have a soup recipe that I hope to make tonight ("Wild Mushroom Soup with Sherry & Thyme"--an older Fine Cooking recipe which looks tasty).  Bought a fresh bâtard from a local bakery and will make a nice salad to go with it.

Kind of a hectic week, to start: I had Colonoscopy II on Tuesday, so there was prep for that Monday (the beverage/solution was much more potable this time around; in hindsight, I ought to have drunk more water, too, as somehow the difficulty my veins traditionally pose to the searching phlebotomist played vascular opossum.) My buddy Peter fetched me from hospital, with a peanut butter sandwich thoughtfully prepared by his wife Becky. He kindly both stood me a Whopper Jr w/ cheese and fries (I'm not normally a "fry guy" but dang, they tasted good) and brought me to my polling place en route home. There was also prep for my cleaning lady, who wound up coming at 7 yestermorn. What with all the excitement/activity I wound up taking a serious nap yesterday afternoon. My voice is still recovering from laryngitis, so I cannot sing with my church choir yet, and will just conduct at tonight's rehearsal and Sunday's service. In fact, still pretty much resting my voice even from plain speech. Not really terrible, and on the upswing.
