It could easily be my favorite piece by Liszt. I hadn't been as impressed by Gretchen as before.

Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

Are you on a quest to hear every Opus 106 ever recorded?
It seems like you have heard several dozen (at least)so far.
Any stand out for good or for ill.

All of Opus 33 plus Opus 42.

Roussel: Symphony No. 2

Those dark and somber tones make it quite enigmatic and absorbing, and it's interesting to notice how some mocking passages are thrown in here and there. Fascinating music which receives a masterful interpretation and clean recording. This symphony and Magnard's 4th are my favorites French symphonies.

It is undoubtedly a masterful performance, my favourite for Liszt's Faust Symphonie.

I know, this is not the "Worst covers ever" thread...  ::)

But the music by Jacobus Barbireau, who lived in the late 15th century and was a native of the Flemish city of Antwerp is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately most of his music didn't  survive for very long - in 1566 the library of the Cathedral of Antwerp was destroyed by religious fanatics.... Humanity has changed very little since then. This is one of Beauty Farm's best recordings sofar.

Yes, a lot, I don't keep count and this is not a quest. I am not looking for the best performances and I am very far from ranking performers and assigning them ratings. The more different recordings I listen to, the less important individual differences become, the closer I am to the ideal Hammerklavier in my mind.

I keep returning to this excellent new recording of the Goldbergs - perfect for a Sunday morning.

The best of Karajan's many recordings of Tchaikovsky's 6th and a top choice on Radio 3's Building a Library some years ago.

I liked them all PD but especially the one by Vitezslava Kaprálová (1915-1940) who died tragically young - a great loss.
