I'm currently drinking coffee and procrastinating some work I need to get done by watching a terrific YouTube channel that does deep dives into Columbo episodes.

"It's just that music thing that bothered me. Carnegie Hall and Nashville. They don't mix."

Columbo first gets suspicious of the classical music obsessed killer when the guy accidentally leaves the victim's car radio on the classical station - the victim absolutely refused to listen to anything but "country and western" according to his wife and ex-wife.

I listen to both kinds, classical and country.

I just subscribed to Instagram in order to get no ads. They succeeded to make the ads so annoying to have me subscribing.
To be fair to GMG, I subscribed here too.

There are other reasons to subscribe. I just want this forum to stay. You will never find a thing like this in the commercial world. It's unique.

Listening to music is to me a way to fill in time. My vitality is not so good (bruised but not broken), so I just try to have a good time. My musical taste is very varied. I like it here since classical music is also a favourite genre of mine and I appreciate the forum as a whole with interesting boards and topics. Attending and occasionaly posting here is good, is satisfactory. I try to give my input and bring things to attention. Keeping music civilisation's richness alive and being grateful!

I have paid for YouTube for years. Sometimes it's worth it no matter how annoying it is to have to give a service money.

Instagram collects the world. Something like Instagram or Youtube wouldn't exist as a commons project. So it's good in that it exists although it's very commercial and there is a danger in the way the algorithms interfere with your brain, so they need to be aware of and control these dangers, it needs to be responsible.

'X' however I find a mad medium. It's a drug that destroys. It's not vital.

My hope is that the UN unites and connects humanity digitally in numerous ways. https://www.itu.int/en/Pages/default.aspx

I can also recommend the UN app if you're interested in international politics and like fo be knowledgable about the UN. It's very nice and without ads.

... I'm quite thinking lately about the role of media in our world. The subject interests me and I'm curious about how it develops also in the context of European integration.
Media is central to our lives, much more than let's say hundred years ago. It's a definite feature compared to civilisations of the past imo, although there is also a continous development in that it has expanded, until in our days it has become central to our culture and it only grows to organize how we live and cooperate with slow and fast, small and big, hidden and visible revolutions happening.

What I do is use dBpoweramp to attach the art to the files and put the art in the folder as well. It works on my Chinoppo media player and the PC.

Quote from: Henk on June 02, 2024, 10:21:27 AMI'm trying to find my mood by which to live and that is formed by and that accompanies:

- Varied music listening. Keep the mood and energy level up. Some contemporary classical music surely is needed.
- Some social media, like GMG, but never going back to 'X'
- Some philosophical books I need to read
- Keeping my house orderly
- Spending time to garden
- Caring for my (mental) health: mental health is quite an extensive thing for me.
- Read some literature daily before going to sleep
- Painting

I don't need much life-style, it's too complicated, just finding a mood or taste of living that endures. A bit of lifestyle is needed and contributes. What this mood exactly is, is difficult to explain, it's something existential and personal. I want it stable and positive.

This is good; I have a similar concern to understand the boundaries of my life, accept and live happily within them. I agree regarding music, GMG, house and garden.

I play the iTunes library on my iMac.

I might try reloading them into the artwork area for the "difficult" albums--or find different artwork for the albums and see if that helps.

After doing some laundry and housework, I'm currently watching an increasingly exciting and yo-yo match between Djokovic and Cerundulo.  Now in fifth set (Roland Garros).   Ouch!  Novak just took a nasty tumble.

Watched the summary. For those who want to know: Djokovic won, but it was a tough match for him (quater final).

I'm wondering how his right knee will be in a couple of days?  And note:  it was a fourth round match; he's now into the quarter finals.  He'll be playing Casper Ruud (from Norway) in his quarter final.

Well, apparently he tore his right medial meniscus (which had been bothering him in the past) and so has withdrawn from RG; this means that there will be a first-time RG winner this year.

Had hoped to weed whack (using loppers) today; however, yesterday I did something to my right shoulder which is making it hard to move my arm in certain ways.  I'm hoping that it will be back to normal tomorrow.  Will watch a bit more tennis from RG later today.

That sounds like Star Market alright!  You probably just bought a loaf of bread and some milk. >:D

So, to be fair, this is for how many people and how long do you think that the food will last for?  Two people, I think?  And looking at this ad (quickly), it doesn't seem that crazy price-wise.

Do you ever buy any organic and/or locally produced food?

I shop weekly at the Star market. I also make little trips to Trader Joe's from time to time for Himalayan pink salt and dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

I'm more on the inorganic side than otherwise, though I think the blueberries from TJs are organic.

I love Trader Joe's but for me it is just too far away!  I know plenty of people that make the trip anyway, but I'm just not a fan of long drives.

There are 3 of them near me, and one is on sacred ground next to the Cambridge MicroCenter.
