I'm trying to stay cool while re-watching Brandon F's YouTube series savaging "The Patriot."  ;D

Perusing local restaurants, just in case my ( first in twenty years ) date hasn't picked one out for dinner tonight.

I've been folding a Stegosaurus.  I took my time with it, only completing 50 steps a day.  Here it is done (in yellow).  I don't like the head mostly because the neck is too small and the plates near it are too big and too much in the front.  I tried my best.

For reference, here is another model (blue) that I folded two years ago.  I think the yellow does most things better, but the blue one handles the head region better.

Watched Wimbledon this morning (whilst intermittently doing some minor chores and dashing back in to see the tennis).  Grocery shopping next and now catching a bit of Spain vs. England (football final).

Watched some of Nadal's single's match in Båstad; alas, the Tennis Channel was having problems partway through with its signal feed, so I missed part of the second set.  I searched around and found out that Le Tour de France is mostly being shown on the online Peacock channel and caught the end of Stage 16 of it.

Another toasty day today here, so I'm not getting much done.   :(

Thinking about von Suppe's Poet and Peasant Overture, while eating a scaled-down breakfast at my favorite morning spot.

There used to be an excerpt from one of the VPO's vintage New Year's Day concerts on YouTube, which included the piece, l think from 1984. Robert Scheiwein was the cello soloist. I would watch this occasionally, and wish l could sing half as well as Scheiwein's playing in the piece.  ::)

I experienced justice today!

I was in the drive through lane of In-N-Out Burger. If you are an In-N-Out patron, you know that the drive through typically has two lanes which merge into one just before the ordering kiosk, which in this case was a teenage employee standing under an umbrella holding a tablet for recording orders. I was in the left lane, as I approached I dutifully allowed the car from the right lane to merge, then prepared to take my turn. Before I could do that a second car from the right lane, a fancy white Mercedes, pulled up and blocked me from taking my turn. I gave my horn a brief toot and made the universal gesture for "what do you think you are doing?" The driver of the other car gave the universal gesture for "f*ck you, I'll do what I want." "What can I do about it?" I thought.

Then the In-N-Out employee finished taking the order of the car ahead and motioned for me to pull up. When she saw I was blocked, she motioned to the other driver, "back up." She had to repeat the gesture several times, quite insistently, before he complied. When I looked in my rear view mirror after placing my order I saw an animated exchange between the Mercedes driver and the In-N-Out employee, where she was gesturing and instructing him, left, then right, then left, then right.

How did the diminutive, teenage In-N-Out employee dominate the asshole in the white Mercedes who thought he could cut me off? Well, she had the ordering tablet, and no one was getting their double-double if without her approval. Power can have mysterious sources.

Today I am experiencing the incredible pleasure of a good flow of water in my house. After the attacks on the country's infrastructure and the constant problem with electricity - we usually have power for 3 hours, then 5-6 hours without, and so on in turns for many weeks now - the pumps have not had time to pump water into the water tower and the water pressure is very weak, if at all. For the last couple of weeks my family has been living almost without water. We used to collect water at night, when pressure is better, in different containers so that we could use it during the day for cooking and flushing the toilets. It turned out that there was a water tank and pump in the basement of the house where we live. Now, in the three hours when there is electricity, we have sufficient water pressure, we can even use the washing machine. I haven't felt such joy for a long time, I don't even know what to compare it to. I can take a shower, which is very pleasant, the temperature outside is 34 degrees Celsius today.

The Mercedes driver is not just self-absorbed, he is also stupid!  The employees prepare the meals in order of an assumed zipper merge between the two lanes.  If he cuts in front of you, his meal won't even be ready!

I mowed the yard yesterday and paid the price... I'm still suffering from a strong allergic reaction.

Have you taken any allergy medication?  :(

Was really looking forward to watching Cam Norrie vs. Rafa Nadal's match on t.v. today (on now).  Alas, my cable reception is down.

Bon appetit!  By the way, do you eat out every day or is that just a Sunday treat?

And, my cable service is back...yeah!  Missed most of the first set, but (as the saying goes) I'll live. :)

Actually, he tried to cut before reaching the order kiosk, so if he had gotten away with it his order would have been placed ahead of mine.

I am impressed with the quality of the training the In-N-Out seems to have given to it's employees. I will never get a fast-food burger anywhere else. (Not there is any reason to.)

Antihistamines hit me harder than most people.  I avoid them unless it is truly bad.
