Dear Music friends.

I have come to the conclusion, due to age, and due to the fact that I am primarily streaming, to give away a great part of my CD collection. Excepted of course the rare and precious CD'S, those ones I will keep. So that means that 80% of my collection I will give away. CD'S alas have no worth anymore, and if I would sell them to a firm that gathers large collections, they pay a measle amount, around 1 euro, or even less, and they are picky also. So I rather give them away. You tell me the composers and works you are interested in, and I will see if they are in the give away bag. The CD'S are of course the ones I have chosen, so if you are particular in specific interpretations, you can get lucky or not. So give me enough details to go on.
Only from Europe I might add, (except England), for taxes will be horrendous. Plus sending over CD'S to the States, caused me many problems, for the packages never arrived, 4 out of 10.
The only things I will charge you are the costs of sending them to you. If received I will send them on their way. If interested PM me, or post your wishes here.

All those In England can visit me, and collect them, I especially think of Jeffrey, for I know for sure that his wife will be very happy about the influx of shining discs.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Good luck
Harry.

I almost typed out a long list but remembered my shelf was full. And I've decided not to buy a new shelf but to buy downloads in the future (as I've already started doing).

Darn, I  and was thinking you needed a lot of them ;D  ;D  ;D
Okay, I add a few shelves, how's that?

The one thing I like about CDs is that they make it easy to track where I am in a big box. But I figured out how to do the same thing with my downloads! I don't even need big boxes anymore.

Perhaps Mrs. Jeffrey would like a new greenhouse ;) .

A very kind offer Harry!

Characteristically generous.

Unfortunately for all the compliments I get from you you guys, also those in England  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D the age of CD'S seems to be dead. Until now no one apart from Que, to whom I send 11CD'S, (I could have send 1100) no one seems interested in getting them for free. That says something about the future of CD'S. Sergei came forward with a good idea, in that I try to get them to the Ukraine. I am working on it, but that is not a easy task. We'll see.

I thought more about it and think I'll make room. I'll send you a PM.

I didn't message you because you said you had poor experiences shipping to the US in the past. But if you're willing to do it, FWIW in the I imagine 300-500 packages I have received from the UK the only one that went missing was some Harbeth badges and that was many years ago.

Boy, I'd love to get in on your amazingly generous offer, but I live in the US.  As others here have mentioned, personally, I haven't had any issues receiving packages.  I suspect that a big issue could be if someone seriously undervalued the value of the shipment.

Note:  one damaged shipment from the UK (some years ago) and a bit of damage issues from American companies--again some time ago.

PD

p.s.   However, that's a really cool idea to send them to Ukraine....they could really use the love and kindness....more so, I suspect, than any of us here.  I don't know about the logistics  and whether or not they would be able to be played/packages delivered and not blown to pieces en route....no guarantees.  I think that it would be a leap of faith.  Another Spin would probably know best in terms of where to send things and what areas are being attacked the least at the moment.  Good luck in figuring things out.

I understand. Years ago when I did ship parcels to the US, I trusted they would arrive, and quite a few did not, I ended paying for all the shipping costs, because I could hardly ask the receiver to pay for something he did not get. That's why I made an exception for the US and England, with good reason I think. Understand me well, I deeply regret I can not sent you those items you would want.

Luckily I have a lot of Ukrainian friends too, so if they go, they go by car. Of course they could be blown up by enemy fire, but that is a risk they are willing to make. I already contacted some of them, and one of them will soon travel to Kiev, to visit his parents, so with any luck they will be distributed over the libraries and whatever place to sell or give them away to those that are interested.

I've had that happen when shipping to Europe back when I sold CDs on eBay. I ended up restricting my sales to the US only.

Good idea, any sent to England could be set on fire by angry mobs at the port of arrival ;) .

You wouldn't happen to have the Backhaus, Complete Decca set?

Yes, and can't ship to the UK either. I feel for Harry, who apparently lives in a benighted country without a functioning postal service! :)
