If you find soggy brown paper-wrapped packages in your mailboxes, they're from me.  And it means that my chicken soup leaked.  :(

The week before last, I made the terrible mistake of trying Campbell's new ghost pepper chicken noodle. I didn't think canned soup could be so painful! It did help my clear my sinuses though!  :'(

If I'm recalling correctly, isn't the ghost pepper chili supposed to now be the world's hottest pepper?  *I'm surprised that you tried the soup!  ;) Did you have any milk in the house?

*Though you are talking to a girl who likes her wasabi.  I still remember one time when I put a bit too much on a piece of sushi.  I felt a shiver go through my neck up and into my skull (from the base upwards).  :o

Ah no the Carolina reaper is much hotter.

Have you ever tried one of those?  I haven't--and have no desire to either!  :D

I do like shishito ones and have grown them before.  I read on some cooking website that about one out of ten can pack somewhat of a punch.

p.s.  I'm rather surprised that Campbell's tried something so adventurous too [new motto:  "This is not your mother's chicken soup!"].

My neighbor grew some and offered one to me. I politely refused. Fresh reaper... I might as well dig my own grave.

I was slicing jalapenos once and made the mistake of rubbing my itchy eye.

Seriously though, I do use things like Thai peppers, cayenne, etc. in my cooking.  Only had them once, I believe, but enjoyed stuffed poppers (very mild appetizer using jalapenos).  Use jalapenos and serranos in my cooking too.

*I suspect that there's a way to use them for flavoring and a bit of heat without killing oneself.  If that neighbor is still in your neighborhood, you should ask them.  :)

Heck, I even turn down jalapeños.

Ur, um, bad idea.  :( Depending upon how sensitive you are to peppers and also how hot they are, you might consider buying a box of disposable gloves and either toss them when you are done or wash your hands well in the sink with a goodly dose of soap and for awhile--to get the oils off of them.

Jalapenos?!  Do you eat things like salsas?  :(

It's easier just to keep my fingers away from my eyes.

When I was younger, I had much more appetite for heat. But, yes, there are chopped jalapeños in my tortilla soup. I don't eat salsa as much as I'd like. I opted against sliced jalapeños on my lunchtime pizza today.

Oh yes, I cook with jalapenos, cayenne and serranos. Reaper, though... no, it is just a death sentence!

I've done that too! We only need to do it once to learn the lesson.

I made the mistake at a rest stop once of buying a packet of ghost pepper flavored tortilla chips while driving back to Massachusetts from New Hampshire. I may have eaten only one and then gave up.

Well, folks, there's apparently an even hotter variety now called the "the Pepper X"; Reaper, step aside!

Years ago, an acquaintance put Tabasco sauce on a sweet onion (on purpose); well, he then touched his eye at some point whilst eating it.  He tried flushing his eye out...didn't help much.  I think that he then dove into his shower!

I learned the easy way.  :)

@Brian How are you and your partner doing?  Do I need to make another batch of chicken soup?  Or, how about miso soup?
