I just rewatched Friday the 13th, Part 3, which has the most in-your-face use of 3d I have ever seen in a movie. Not having a 3d version and those silly red and blue 3d glasses, it was doubly silly seeing it in 2d.

Do you remember the 3d fad of the 80s? And then the 3d fad of the late 00s? It seemed for awhile we were doomed to pay 3d fees for all our movies. They even made 3d TVs back then. Still didn't stick.

I tried to watch an early 80s slasher the other day that I'd never heard of. It turned out to be 3D, but of course I also didn't have any of the tools to appreciate it. So yeah, it just felt silly when they did the "coming at you" stuff.

I only made it about 15 min into that one. I can't even remember the name.

Paul Morrissey's Women in Revolt (1971)

I can't even begin to know how to rate this film. Every character in the movie is horrible. I think the movie is trying to call out radical feminists. But the Holly Woodlawn, Jackie Curtis, and Candy Darling characters truly are victims of the system. So their anger is justified.

It's ugly and campy. Full of sexual situations and nudity without being a bit sexy. It pushes buttons and envelopes while still being hard to sit through -- because boring.

A fascinating experience.

Paul Morrissey's Women in Revolt (1971)

Star Trek: Generations. Not one of the great movies of the franchise, but I cannot help being rather fond of it, all the same.

I really like Kirk and Picard severally tempted by the prospect of the family neither ever had.

I remember how awesome it was seeing the TNG crew in DS9 uniforms. It looked so cool in 1994, and it still looks cool today.

The most recent film I've watched properly ( not as a reaction video, in other words ) was 2011's Margin Call, a couple of weeks ago.

Very, very good performances on the whole, from an ensemble cast including Kevin Spacy, Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Zachary Quinto and Demi Moore.

Probably the most engaging film I've seen which deals with financial markets and corporations. The director ( whose name unfortunately eludes me atm ) apparently had a career in that business prior to becoming a filmmaker, an obvious advantage.

There are a number of excerpts uploaded to YouTube, which l first discovered a few years back, but seeing the film properly was gratifying, and l can recommend it.

And if you think about, it there are reasons why none of us knows what an orangutan without hair would look like. What will the human look like, who tries to shave an orangutan? They are immensely powerful creatures. Think of Poe's " The Murders in the Rue Morgue."

Star Trek VI: The Undetonated Undiscovered Country.Of the original crew's movies, the one I've seen the fewest times (not counting V, which I shan't need to watch again.) Just getting started. Brock Peters is superb.

The driest line Spock ever delivered? "If I know the captain, by this time he is deep into planning his escape."

     I'll cheat a little and say I might watch The Keep, a sub-trashterpiece from Michael Mann. It's a mess that probably wouldn't be improved if it made more sense. What it has going for it is it's not The Visitor, but then what is? There is a story here, and an outstanding cast doing whatever it is they're doing. Highly recommended for.....well, you know who you are.

I read it years ago. I remember finding some of the plot twists to be a bit of a letdown. It is pulpy; I didn't know, or just forgot, that it's the first of a series.
