I always like these deep dives that expose the cinematography tricks that we only take in subconsciously.

I don't recall mentioning MKT before, but if I haven't this is as good a time to put her forward as any.

The film is, of course, iconic. From the evocative opening credits to the score ( which Madison comments on heartily ) to the performances ( all are good, if not on par with Peck's ), the film has everything in correct proportion and the pacing is exemplary. The climactic courtroom scene has been a gold standard from the film's premiere, and Peck is riveting.

Watch the film if you've never seen it - it will be with you always.

( Apparently Madison's upload of To Kill a Mockingbird was taken down. This usually is a copyright issue, hopefully she'll be able to re-edit the reaction and re-upload at some point. )

Thanks for this! I needed someone fresh to watch. I just watched her Twisters, and I had a good time. Look forward to seeing more.

Check out her reaction to the Lonesome Dove miniseries ( which you should most certainly investigate, if you like westerns and never saw it ). There aren't many reactions to that series, and it's what brought her to my attention.  8)

I just did my two test reactions: Casablanca and Field of Dreams. She passed the test.  ;D

I have not seen Lonesome Dove, so I won't watch that one yet from her. But she has a lot of westerns I do know and love, so I will get to those.

It's been decades since I watched the film, so I'll have something to do tonight.  ;D

Just watched Cass's Generations and Hot Fuzz reactions. Good stuff.

Caught up on some recent Ashleigh Burton, too. I was a little meh on hers tonight.

Ashleigh's best are a lot of fun. If work permits tonight I'll try to link a few personal favorites.  8)

I have seen some great ones from her, yes. And also, I am pretty sure her "Blazing Saddles" was the first movie reaction I ever watched.

A few from Ms. Burton.

Some solid reactions, and maybe a film some haven't seen ( or have forgotten about... ).

And now for something completely somewhat different...

I've known for a while that there are people who edit together segments from different reactors, creating what might be called " compendium clips " . I've maybe watched a dozen of these, and they're usually entertaining, but dispensable.

I've just come across another such creator, and have watched two of his uploads in the last twenty minutes or so. And he seems to have found a next-level method that is surprisingly effective.

This one really got me:

Mind you, I've seen the film at least thirty times, by a conservative estimate. So I know every line of dialogue, every musical cue, every camera move, and I have for many years now.

Yet by the end of this clip, I was in tears as though the scene were brand new to me.

Perhaps this creator knows what he is about.  ::)

Quote from: hopefullytrusting on October 14, 2024, 05:45:46 PMI just cannot make it through her videos. She hems and haws for so long, as I said, I love her husband (he does a video each April 1, and I like her in those videos, as you can her laughing the entire time).

She also seems like a super nice person, so that's cool as well. 8)

re Elizabeth of Charismatic Voice:

I do agree that she pauses a lot and constantly repeats clips. It gets tiresome, so I don't watch most of her videos (plus, she's in a place right now where she's doing a lot of music I don't know, and I don't like watching reactions to music or movies I don't know). But I like her - as you say, she seems very nice. So I watch her sometimes.

I'm pretty sure I've seen her channel in the last year or so. If memory serves, she has a good grasp of the physiology of the voice, and explains it fairly well.

Thanks to you, I have been watching a bunch of this guy's videos tonight. You're right - he's as good as anyone I have seen at editing together reactions.

I hate seeing Natalie Gold, though. She's annoying, and I never believe this is her first watch of a film.  :-[

Cassie and Carly did Deadpool & Wolverine. Very entertaining. I love them together watching a movie.

They've both come a long way in what they will accept on screen, too. They laughed at some jokes they wouldn't even have left in the movie a year or two ago - like the "207 bones" joke.

It's a process. Carly is a bit more resistant, but she hasn't seen Tarantino and other intense films to the extent that Cassie now has, so I'm thinking she isn't quite as " inoculated ".

Tbh, I don't want them to become so acclimated that they lose the characteristic charm which so inhabits their reactions. It sets them apart from the other channels, and is their most valuable asset.
