Cantata BWV 63

The musical instrument at the bottom of art looks interesting. I've never seen it before. Is this a group of pipes?

It's a portative organ much used in Medieval times. Landini is typically pictured playing one of these.

Agree, its outstanding, and when looking for volume II, I came to the conclusion that it was never released. Which is indeed unfortunately, for the repertoire is rarely recorded, and therefore a primary target for ensembles. In this instance I am very disappointed that there was never a follow up. Money matters I guess, as so often.

Hi Manabu,it is a portative, an instrument you might be familiar with if your musical explorations had extended to medieval music.

A portative (from Latin: portare = 'to carry') is a portable small pipe organ that was mainly used in the Middle Ages and Renaissance in secular music.

Nice, very nice.... :)
"Early" music is not an area I spend much time with, but O felici occhi miei is a title that aways bring a smile to my face; Diego Ortiz's Tratado de glosas, which includes recercadas (variations) on that song, has been a favourite since I was very young.

Haydn: Piano sonata no.16 in D major

The first sonata that Bavouzet tackles (at the end of disc 3) which the liner notes treat as early (probably composed in the early 1760s). Perhaps less ambitious, but still very pleasant.

Its existence was documented in Haydn's own catalogue in about 1767, but when it was first published in 1789 it was attributed to Ignaz Pleyel and had sprouted a violin part. I'm trying to decide which of those publishing decisions is more peculiar.
