Well, whether the prob is the Search function, or me, I cannot find my post about being approached for an engraving job. I have at last submitted a quote. Now I wait as two orchestras confer with one another about paying for the job. I probably should not start the work until the matter of payment is settled.

You may recall, when I sent the Third Symphony to a friend who works at an orchestra, that it was "turned down" because a 25-minute piece for strings would be "too much of an ask." It just occurred to me to propose the 9-minute Elegy. We shall see what his thoughts may be.

Quote from: Kalevala on December 09, 2024, 07:35:20 AMCool!  Any idea of about how many singers there are in it?

K
Had seven singers. It all went well. They do have other candidates, so we shall see.

I like it! The scoring is different, too, though, it's a group called the Glendale Community College Team Lo-Blow Clarinet Choir.
Basset Horn
Alto Clarinet
Bass Clarinet (up to 8 separate parts)
Contralto clarinet
Contrabass clarinet

Sounds kind of a fun outfit, but I don't think Misapprehension would work, transposed down so. So, I'm still a-mulling.
So, what about a new piece? Can I chop one out to deliver by Thursday? Let me see....

Not directly, but I'm sure we'll know this side of Christmas, because they want to start rehearsals in January for their spring program.

Actually, the deadline is Saturday, so I have ample time, even allowing for Friday being a PT-recovery time.

Possibly done as a four-minute piece. I'll sleep on it.

Another fun piece from Karl: the clarinets in the treble play a jaunty, Big-Band tune in an attempt to summon up some happiness from those cheerless voices in the bass!     8)

Well, the A Cappella Singers chose another candidate. Probably just as well. Natick is outside the service area of The Ride, so the Ubers there and back were on my dime, and would have made a dent in my earnings from the gig.
