Quote from: SimonNZ on December 31, 2024, 03:06:39 PMA friend of mine has an original vinyl of Buckingham Nicks and he's played it for me a couple of times when I've been over at his place, and its a fine album. I wonder if there isn't some long running argument that has stopped its reissue, like some early contract that cheated them out of the rights and someone refuses still to cut them back in.
Quote from: SimonNZ on December 31, 2024, 03:23:02 PMHuh. And now I learn for the first time that Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham have released a full album cover of Buckingham Nicks called Cunningham Bird:

Sorry Simon.  I didn't mean to ignore you. I had heard about the Cunningham Bird album and started to check it out, but then went to listen to the original one (long story).  The little bit that I heard of CB was nice (just part of the first song), but when I listened to the original, well....

In any event, I felt like that I should listen to the original first...and really liked it!  :)

Spent a misspent youth dancing to Ska, or Bluebeat as we called it in the 1960's. Much change of personnel but can't help but impressed by a later incarnation of The Skatalites.

You must have a very good opinion of yourself to write a symphony - John Ireland.

I opened the door people rushed through and I was left holding the knob - Bo Diddley.

Would this classic even get airplay today?

Ex-Easter Island Head: Live from the Church of Sound (from 2016 at St James the Great Church, London). Trying to begin 2025 with some music new to me, and liking this a lot.

The group uses electric guitars struck with mallets, plus percussion and other instruments.

House to myself for once.  Amps up to 11.

I didn't actually buy this.  What I bought (on eBay) was someone or other's version of the Resurrection Symphony.  When this arrived instead I took it as kind of a sign.  Man also has to boogie.  Quite right. :)

Duncan and Cipollina were one of the great guitar odd couples.

Hmmm...I wonder what the person who might have received the Resurrection Symphony thought?

For some reason I generally like "jazz waltzes". Also for example Bill Evans Trio Waltz for Debby and Alice in Wonderland, Sonny Rollins + 4 Valse Hot, etc.

And Happy Hours is a wonderful album. All these years, it remains easy to listen to, without any sense of anachronism. In some ways, they are on the same ground with the Grateful Dead, which, as we know, no one else managed to do.

When, I'm done with my Dvorak for the day (two new purchases of mine): White Tiger's Echolalia and Nina's Synthian:

71 dB

A few days ago I finished the Autechre's NTS Sessions 1-4 set with Session 4.

CD 07 (0401)

0.1 - frane casual
0.2 - mirrage
0.3 - column thirteen
0.4 - shimripl casual

CD 08 (0402)

0.1 - all end

The one hour long "all end" is not easy listening, but this time around I got more out of it. I found it deeply "liminal", the type of music I have been into lately. As a matter of fact whole NTS Sessions 1-4 have a strong "liminal" feeling to it, which is interesting because it came out in 2018, just before liminal aesthetics became popular online.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

Nina Simone's 'Nuff Said!

One of the greatest voices of all time - maybe even the Mount Rushmore. :)

Garbage in 2024, still killing it - I love how they are all aging so gracefully:

I don't know that particular album, but I do love her voice and her singing.  I have a live from Newport CD and one other compilation of hers.  That (yours) looks like an original release.

That image is of the original release, I, sadly, only have it in a digital form. :)
