The Band Junkie Strikes.

He composed some nice works for concert band.  The most famous, which I have performed a few times, the Prairie Overture .

No - but many thanks Leo  :)

Today I've listened to Ward's very enjoyable Piano Concerto and Symphony 2, possibly the best of his symphonies although I was very happy to discover Symphony 1 recently. The Piano Concerto reminded me of the one by Howard Hanson which I also enjoy. William Strickland conducts both performances, the Symphony 2 with the Japanese PO. Their recording of Samuel Barber's First Symphony was my introduction to the work in the days of LP and it remains my favourite version of that great symphony.
