thanks to everyone for their input. turns out it was Herb Albert 'Spanish Flea',... trumpet, not sax, drrrr... also, not close to the melody that I wrote down,... which still make me wonder what it is,... it's not 'The Dating Game' or 'Newlywed Game'/
