Quintessential Monk right there, Jeffrey. Great set and a nice presentation overall from Prestige, too.

Random fun fact: this set contains the first of two versions he performed of the piece Locomotive. The other version appeared many years later on his Columbia album Straight, No Chaser. To my knowledge, he has never recorded this piece live either or at least in terms of his live recorded history, but there's no telling what's left in 'the vaults' that hasn't been found yet and awaits discovery.

I am glad you think so, it's perhaps not the type of music I usually seek out, but I heard a song in Christian Petzold's film THE STATE THAT I AM IN (the song from which this collection takes its name) and it had a strange staying power with me. I hope to actually listen to it this week....
