Oh! I must add Out in the Sun! Especially because of the NEC connection.

Oh, that's neat, Cato!  Was this via the radio or youtube?  Or a live performance in your area (or where you were visiting)?

It was at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor: an excellent performance of the work!

Quote from: Cato on December 12, 2024, 10:06:54 AMAnother fun piece from Karl: the clarinets in the treble play a jaunty, Big-Band tune in an attempt to summon up some happiness from those cheerless voices in the bass!    8)
My friend Peter told me of a Boston group of bass clarinets, Improbable Beasts. I have reached out to them.

Quote from: Karl Henning on December 13, 2024, 10:43:12 AMThose who called for the low clarinet choir piece also call for brass choir scores. Part of my dream last night was working on a piece to submit. So naturally, I am wondering: shall I try to chop out a fanfare today and tomorrow?
I have good news, though not without some confusion. I have just got an email msg congratulating me on the selection of my piece and requesting parts, but I don't know which piece is meant (low clarinets or brass choir.) In any event, the New Year has started nicely.

Okay, clarification has come: Lord of the Things for brass choir, is the piece they've chosen. After I return from the supermarket, I shall prep and send parts.

I resisted the urge to ask, "What was wrong with the low clarinet choir piece?!"

Politely worded and constructive criticism CAN be very helpful though.  The level of honesty and bluntness can vary in part in terms of reception due to how well you know and/or esteem the reviewer/person/relationship me thinks. Just some thoughts....
